NEW YORK – A new study reveals that making New Year’s resolutions greatly increase your chance of failure. Komen Sense Research Institute found that 99.8% of participants failed at their New Year’s resolution versus 0% of those that did not make any at all.
The study also found that the more resolutions a participant had on their list, the more they failed. One participant gained 4 lbs. during the first week of January, but since he did not in fact make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, he actually did not fail at all.
Dr. Rue Teen who led the study said, “We faced many challenges with this study. Several participants couldn’t find their lists that they wrote on the back of a half-torn envelope. One list was so poorly written, even the participant could not read their own handwriting, so we were unable to confirm whether they wanted to save less or drink money.”
While further research is underway, Dr. Rue strongly recommends not making any New Year’s resolutions at all this year.
